How to compare packers and movers in Bangalore

The rates on this page come from 2026 Bangalore market quotes and mover rate cards we reviewed in September and October 2026. They aren’t from our own completed Bangalore jobs, and they cover a normal local household move within about 30 km: standard packing, loading, transport and unloading. Treat them as a fair market range, not a fixed price list. You won’t see “starting from Rs 999” here, because no full home move in Bangalore actually costs that.

Why does a 2 BHK range run from Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000? A light 2 BHK going a short distance, with an easy service lift on both ends, can be done for Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000. Heavy wooden furniture, 20 to 30 km of travel, stairs, a long carry from the main gate or a narrow society time slot can take the same move to Rs 13,000 or Rs 15,000. Most normal 2 BHK moves land in between.

So send every company the same item list, the same floor and lift details and the same pickup and drop addresses, then compare. Check what’s left out, too. Insurance, GST billed separately, AC uninstall and reinstall, complex carpentry, piano or safe handling, rope lifting, storage and society charges usually sit outside the base quote. Society NOC, lift slot and moving hours

In most Bangalore gated societies, the move doesn’t start with the truck. It starts with the facility office. The usual order is NOC, then the moving slot, then the service lift, then truck entry, then crew details. Miss one step and the crew can end up waiting at the gate while waiting charges build up.

Charges vary from society to society. Where they apply, a move-in or move-out fee is often Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000, and some societies take a refundable deposit of around Rs 5,000 against damage to lifts or common areas. These aren’t citywide charges, so check your own society’s rules and ask whether the quote includes them. Some societies also want the lift walls and floor padded before the crew starts.

Moving hours are set by each association too. A common window is 9 or 9:30 AM to around 5 or 6 PM, and some allow only 10 AM to 5 PM. Late-evening moves are usually not allowed because of noise and lift use, and some societies restrict Sundays and national holidays.

Truck routes and traffic timing

Bangalore traffic decides how long your move takes, and in 2026 the truck class decides which roads it can use. From September 2026, Bengaluru Traffic Police put these restrictions in place:

A Tata Ace may be allowed where a 17 ft truck is not, so ask the company to check the route for the actual truck on your moving date. Don’t rely on one fixed Bangalore truck timing.

Plan extra time on the slow corridors. TomTom’s 2025 traffic index put an average 10 km trip in Bangalore at 36 minutes, rising to about 41 minutes in the morning rush and about 45 minutes in the evening, and a loaded truck is slower than that. These are the buffers worth building into the day:

The Varthur and Gunjur side needs extra care right now. In mid-September 2026, road work on Varthur-Sarjapur Road and Gunjur Club Road left traffic on that stretch stuck for hours. If your pickup or drop is there, ask for an early start and check the road status the day before.

Shifting in the Bangalore rains

Rain needs planning from May to October. India Meteorological Department averages for Bangalore are about 107 mm in May and June, 113 mm in July, 147 mm in August, 213 mm in September and 168 mm in October, so September is usually the wettest month of the year.

What should you ask the crew to do? Use a closed-body truck where possible and keep a tarpaulin on it anyway. Wrap mattresses and upholstered furniture in plastic, and double-protect TVs and electronics inside the house, before they reach the loading area. Packed cartons shouldn’t sit on wet ground, so lay plastic or tarpaulin under them and keep goods in the basement, lobby or loading bay until the truck is ready. If a heavy downpour starts, a good crew pauses loading instead of rushing. Rain also slows the Outer Ring Road, Whitefield and Bellandur quickly, so add time to those jobs.

Moving out of Bangalore

The busiest household corridors from Bangalore are Chennai (about 350 km), Hyderabad (about 570 km), Pune (about 840 km), Mumbai (about 980 km) and Delhi NCR (about 2,100 to 2,200 km). On longer routes, ask whether the quote uses a shared truck or a dedicated truck, because that changes both the price and the delivery date. Payment and delivery checks

Keep the advance limited, get a receipt and match the business name on it with the GST record. The signed inventory should stay with you until delivery. If insurance is offered, ask for the insurer’s name, the declared value and the claim steps in writing.
